house and millions of americans waiting on health? let's get the read from "the new york post," michael goodwin, jason nichols, and rebecca walter is here. michael, let's begin with you. why is nancy pelosi rejecting these calls from her own party. i've got this letter in hand. signatures of nearly half of the democratic caucus. 114 rank-and-file lawmakers pressing her on this. >> i have to say, sandra, it doesn't make sense to me because clearly there is a lot of need still out there, even as the economy reopens, there are a lot of people who have not gone their jobs back. those jobs may be gone forever, so the fact that that house does not want to i think with this $600 into the post office bill suggests that nancy pelosi is playing some other game, that she has some other plan, but i think it is maybe too smart to be apparent to everybody else because it seems rather obvious

1:06 pm

that you would want to get that money to the people as fast as possible. it's already been a while since the first federal installment on the unemployment expired. so i'm not sure what she's holding out for her, but it's clearly something. >> sandra: jason, democrats are pressing her to come to an agreement on this or at least consider the legislation. they make the case that workers are being held hostage. is she getting the message? >> well, i think what she's saying essentially is why put a tourniquet on a wound when you already have the capacity to do surgery? so, they've already passed the heroes act, which includes money for covid testing. it includes money for rental assistance. it includes money for people who are food insecure. so why just give them the $600 without all these other protections? including also a moratorium on evictions. they already agreed upon this in the house. it is mitch mcconnell who is

being an obstructionist, which is coming to define his entire career. he needs to come to the table and actually take this up for a vote, but instead, he is obstructing peer nancy pelosi, i understand the concerns of senator richmond. i actually admire him. i am concerned with the other 99 democrats, but pelosi has a point here, that they have already passed something, and it is time for republicans to stop obstructing. >> sandra: tell that to you the democrats. what is the economic urgency to get these americans who are struggling that $600 extension? >> sandra, we are talking about 30 million people at the end of july, they were still getting this, and it now is gone and evaporated, and other than president trump's executive order, i completely disagree that the republican --

1:08 pm

nancy pelosi and the house democrats knew that $3 trillion in the heroes act was such a far overreach, and they chose to go ahead and move forward with the bill at the expense of 30 million americans weekly, that if they could give money to state and local governments that have been vandalized, there's all kinds of stuff in this. $30 trillion to give them all kinds of things that are not relevant to coronavirus and the recovery of our economy, so this is ridiculous that we are being held hostage for $3 trillion. she doesn't have the votes, she should have come to the table, and her own house democrats are telling her to come to the tab table. >> sandra: she says the timing is not right. 10.2% unemployment as the latest july numbers revealed on the economy. there's a lot of people feeling the pain right now. let's switch gears now to talk about joe biden. as you know, what was missing from his acceptance speech last night. a big push for a far left

brian kilmeade earlier today. he said you didn't hear the mention of the specific policy details. it would "scare the be bajeezus out of the american public." because they are much closer to the center than the bernie sanders wing of the party that is predominant. i think sanders has said explicitly that the goal is to unite behind biden now, get him elected, and when you get into government, then you begin to move farther to the left, so when president trump calls joe biden something of a trojan horse, i think that's what he is talking about. they are not being honest now about what they would do if they got into power. >> sandra: you know, it's really interesting, rebecca, when you look at his use of those left and far left wing policies and how much she did talk about that running up to

1:11 pm

securing the nomination. chris christie went on to say he did that because he had to. he will pursue those policies if he is elected, but that leaves the question what do we hear from joe biden from now until november? >> that's exactly right. anytime a policy is not being presented at a public forum, especially at the convention, the actual policy of the party, then there is something that is being hidden, and we know that president trump called him a trojan horse. you might call him the manchurian candidate. with sanders, talking about these really far left policies where we are talking about the elimination of all cash bill. we are talking about the elimination of, you know, nongreen combustible energy plans. within five years. by 2025, and all electric power plants. it's so aggressive. both as our right to all

whether we see them or not, we need to know that they're always there. for the past 25 years, masimo has been monitoring patients in hospitals around the world so that doctors and nurses can make sure you feel safe. as new challenges have arisen, we've grown to bring that same safety and support to the place that you want to be most. if we've learned nothing else, it's that when challenges arise, there's only one way to rise above. together. masimo. together in hospital, together at home.

it is the light in all of us that cannot be extinguished. it rages on to give us a glimmer of what we can do and of who we can become. because hope fuels opportunity. university of phoenix is awarding up to $1 million in new scholarships through september. yes, hope is alive and well.

1:56 pm

see what scholarship you qualify for at phoenix.edu. >> joe biden making his pitch to voters on both sides of the aisle last night by moving to the center. the former democrat turned republican, new jersey governor, new jersey republican congressman we were looking forward to having you on the program tonight what can you tell us about what you heard from joe biden and him trying to reach out to more voters last night after you heard those far left policy proposals early on. he did move to the center last

1:57 pm

nightmare hit. >> that is what so disingenuous, it was more of a show then it really was a statement of policy and what you believe. that so what we heard last night two years ago when the new congress came in. anything from impeachment, to every single day there were problems between the democrats not accepting there were problems with iran that our president straightened out for there were problems was north korea that our president straightened out. he was called a racist for doing so. my point is this, it's easy during a convention to give a nice beach that somebody has written for you and talk about how you're in the center. you're not in the center. they are not in the center. i know they are being moved to the left more and more.

1:58 pm

they are even primary people that our left of center, but aren't radical. the democratic party has become the socialist radical party and joe biden is much of a trojan horse for coming into win the election and then other folks are going to be taking over. it's a shame. >> were you running away from something when you left the democratic party, or were you running toward something great they're going to have you speak i just learned what are you running towards if that's the case? >> i'm running towards america. i love this country. i want everybody that's listening to understand that. if we don't do the right thing this election we are going to never be where we were as a country. the squad, et cetera the people

1:59 pm

in the radical democratic party are democrats they don't leave in americanism, they don't believe in capitalism, they don't believe in our uniqueness is a country. that's what that's about, it's about a fancy speech, yes i'm going to give a speech and we will all give speeches and i know they'll be good, but that isn't the main point, it's really what has happened the last two years and what we've gone through with so many of the policies and ideas that the radical left has tried to push through. when it comes to open borders, and it comes to sanctuary states, and it comes to what's going on in our city,. >> it sounds like were getting a preview of your speech next week. we appreciate you coming on tonight. we will see you next week. >> my pleasure, thank you. >> neil will be back tomorrow as the house is set for a rare

2:00 pm

saturday vote on postal service funding. stay tuned for that. it starts at 10:00 a.m. eastern time, and it is that time, the five starts now. jesse rogers along with juan williams. this is the five. joe biden exceeding expectations with his big speech of the d&c. democrats breathing as i ever leave that biden didn't blow it. on a wide range of issues. take a look. >> the current president american darkness for much too long. i will be an ally of the light, not the darkness.
